About this project

About this project

A shared runtime that handles everything an 8/16/32-bit computer emulator needs on two boards — display, touch, SD card, Wi-Fi with NTP, Bluetooth keyboards and mice, a setup screen, a web page for disk images and a serial console — plus the CPU cores: 68000/68020, Z80, 6502, 65C816, 6809, ARM2 and a uPD765 floppy controller. A machine describes itself in one emu_machine_t struct and emu_run() does the rest; the build target picks the board, esp32s3 for the Makerfabs MaTouch ESP32-S3 7" (1024×600, 8 MB PSRAM) or esp32p4 for the M5Stack Tab5 (1280×720, 32 MB PSRAM). It is ESP-IDF 5.5.4 components, not a standalone app, and powers twelve separate emulator projects including Atari STE, Macintosh, Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64.
