PROJECT / ESP32 APPLICATION
Handwritten Clock
ESP32 weather clock in a handwritten font of Bézier curves: morphing digits, pen-written text, weather icons flowing in dots
About this project
A 320x240 weather clock where the digits don't flip but flow into one another along Bézier curves, and the temperature and city name are written letter by letter as if by a pen. Weather icons are dot fields that morph from sun to rain. The time turns silver by day and copper by night, shifting half an hour either side of sunrise and sunset, and the temperature text drifts blue below 23 degrees Celsius and red above. Two boards are supported: the ESP32-2432S028 CYD with an ILI9341 panel, and a Guition JC1060P470 with an ESP32-P4 and a 7" 1024x600 JDI panel over MIPI-DSI. Built with ESP-IDF 5.2 or newer; the drawing comes from a bundled dgx component. Wi-Fi is provisioned over BLE with Espressif's app, and the time zone list is generated from the build machine's tz database.
