PROJECT / ESP32 APPLICATION
Monitor Buddy
A tiny ESP32-C6 touchscreen friend for the side of your monitor: animated face, clock, weather, moon phase, stocks and GitHub stats. No soldering.
About this project
An animated face on a 1.47-inch screen, clipped to the side of a monitor by a 3D-printed holder: it blinks, glances about, and rolls its eyes when the board is tilted, thanks to an on-board QMI8658 motion sensor. Swiping past the face reaches a clock, Open-Meteo weather, moon phase, a stock ticker and GitHub numbers; the free Finnhub key only covers US symbols. Five themes, and a setting flips screen, touch and eye movement for a right-side mount. Assembly needs no soldering, and only the touchscreen version of the board fits the holder. Flashing runs from Chrome or Edge over Web Serial; building from source needs pioarduino, since the chip is too new for the stock ESP32 tooling.
