PROJECT / ESP32 APPLICATION
Esp Rotary Display Ha Hub
Two round ESP32-S3 touchscreens + a rotary knob, running ESPHome + LVGL, as a Home Assistant control hub. Fades to a bedside clock at night; has a real wake-up alarm.
About this project
Two identical round-screen hubs, one on a coffee table and one on a bedside table, each a 480×480 ESP32-S3 module with a rotary encoder: turn the knob and a wheel of six to eight wedges spins past — Media, Lights, Climate, Scenes, Blinds, Playlists, Speakers — and every wedge is a Home Assistant action call. The display holds no state of its own for anything that matters, so a light changed from a phone shows up on the wheel. Left alone it fades into a dim amber clock and date, and it carries a real alarm with snooze and a hold-to-confirm dismiss cap. Built in ESPHome 2026.7.x with LVGL 9.x widgets only, no custom C++. Icons are deliberately not bundled, and the entity IDs are from a real installation, so the configs are a reference to adapt rather than flash as-is.
