About this project
About this project
A reflective desk display that never really turns off, running off a single 18650 cell. Between updates it sleeps, waking once a minute for a redraw of about sixty milliseconds and opening Wi-Fi once a day for a sync lasting three to four seconds. The 400×300 one-bit reflective panel is read by ambient light, so idle draw stays tiny. Nine layouts and up to sixteen presets cover indoor climate, weather and air quality, rain in the next two hours, a ČHMÚ rain radar, aircraft overhead, a solar forecast and the house's energy flow. Two buttons, KEY and BOOT, drive a menu; setup happens on a phone through the device's own QR-coded hotspot, and layouts can be split down to status-bar-sized cells.
