About this project

About this project

Cards are JSON: widget positions, a schema field, an expiry time and thresholds. Point a client library at the display and it updates the values, leaving the layout alone. Layouts and images sit on the microSD, so they survive reboots and can be replaced over the network; cards that expire or go unused are dropped when space runs low, and an idle slideshow cycles the rest. A critical card takes the whole screen, raises the backlight and blinks the LED until somebody taps ACKNOWLEDGE. Wi-Fi is provisioned over Bluetooth with Improv, data arrives over HTTPS with a pinned self-signed certificate or MQTT, and Home Assistant discovers it as a device with a selector, brightness, a slideshow switch and sensors. Python and bash clients are included. It is pre-alpha on the ESP32-2432S028R and wants a 5 V / 1 A supply.
