E-PAPER NOW-PLAYING DISPLAY / ESP32 APPLICATION
Music Station
ESP32-S3 e-paper music interface — currently an iPhone now-playing display, evolving into a standalone offline microSD music station.

About this project
About this project
Music, artwork and synchronized lyrics on a 2.9-inch e-paper panel, played straight from a microSD card by an ESP32-S3 with five physical buttons and no phone in sight. MP3s decode on their own core through a MAX98357A I2S amplifier, so the roughly 780 ms e-paper refresh never interrupts the music, and lyrics follow the samples actually sent to the speaker. Cover art is pre-baked as 1-bit images and .lrc files are prepared on a Mac before an album goes on the card. The panel is a DEPG0290BS 296x128 with an SSD1680 controller. Arduino IDE builds it with USB CDC on boot, the Huge APP partition scheme and PSRAM disabled. The earlier version was an iPhone companion reading now-playing data over Bluetooth and fetching lyrics from LRCLIB; its audio still came from the phone.
