TRANSIT DEPARTURE MONITOR / ESP32 APPLICATION
Mini Departure Monitor
Battery-powered ESP32-S3 ePaper Train/Bus departure monitor with browser-based setup, live depature transit data, and deep-sleep power modes

About this project
About this project
A Seeed XIAO ePaper Display EE04 board with a Waveshare 2.9-inch 296×128 monochrome panel becomes a departure board for up to four stops in the VRS (Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Sieg) service area. You paste a normal VRS departure-monitor link into the browser setup page; the firmware pulls the 32-character stop hash out of it and requests the JSON endpoint directly over HTTPS. Three keys on the board switch stations, toggle setup and force deep sleep. Continuous, SleepAlarm and SleepManual modes trade refresh rate for battery, the refresh interval sits between 20 and 60 seconds, and below 20% battery the device shows a warning and drops back into sleep. The setup UI is compiled into the image and served from an access point named mini-config. PlatformIO, GxEPD2, U8g2 and ArduinoJson.
