ATARI XE/XL EMULATOR / ESP32 APPLICATION
Astarta Retro Emulator
AstartA Project: Disk Drive, Cassette Recorder & other hardware emulation for ATARI XE/XL based on ESP32

About this project
About this project
Where a real Atari 8-bit machine would see disk drives and a tape recorder, this puts an ESP-WROOM-32 instead: four addressable drives D1-D4, a read-only tape emulator and an RTC over the APE TIME protocol that SpartaDOS understands. It also joins a Wi-Fi hotspot, takes its clock from NTP and serves the SD card over FTP so images can be dropped in without pulling the card. Images are mounted from ATR, XFD, two of the five PRO protections and XEX, with CAS for tapes; ATX, DCM and SCP are placeholders. An ST7735 screen and four buttons (IO33 back, IO25 up, IO26 down, IO27 select) run the menu. It is a single Arduino IDE sketch on the ESP32 Dev Module, and the SD card must be FAT32 with an astarta.cfg at the root. Status: pre-alpha.
