DIGITAL RAIN CLOCK / ESP32 APPLICATION
Matrix Rain Tab5
Matrix Rain Clock for M5Stack Tab5 (ESP32-P4): 80-column digital rain on a 1280x720 MIPI-DSI panel, a 7-segment clock the rain refracts through, a touch WiFi setup wizard…

About this project
About this project
Eighty columns of glyphs fall down a 1280×720 MIPI-DSI panel, drawn straight to it in C++ without LVGL or any framework. The 7-segment clock is made of rectangles, and a glyph crossing a lit segment is pushed four pixels aside and hue-shifted, so the rain seems to bend; the glyph then leaves a ghost in an 80×45 glow buffer that fades over about eight and a half seconds. The only UI is a 90×34 SET corner, and tapping the screen cycles six character sets, with 91 katakana baked into 16×16 bitmaps. The real trap is the missing video memory, so DSI scan-out, CPU write-back and USB serial fight over PSRAM, and a frame taking over 3 s triggers a restart.
